Martinique is an island located in the Lesser Antilles eastern Caribbean Sea, with a land area of 1,128 km². Like Guadeloupe, it is an overseas region of France, consisting of a single overseas department.The Caribs called Martinique "Madinina" island of Flowers. It is the largest of the Windward's and, apart from a few short spells under the British, has been French since it was colonized. Martinique has well maintained roads and a thriving tourism and marine economy. Almost every bay you would want to visit has a well built government dock, which is perfect for leaving your tender. Fort de France is the capital, bustling with shoppers and cars. La Marin to the south is the yachting capital and has great provisioning, a well protected harbour and great night life.
