This 2004 Island Spirit 40 has spent the last few years in the Caribbean, but is an experienced blue-water craft sailing from South Africa, through the Caribbean, four times through the Panama Canal, and to Hawaii and Tahiti. Without compromise in construction or Ocean-passage safety, she boosts a sleek open cockpit layout and spacious interior with comfort in mind. All lines lead to an electric winch at the helm which, combined with visibility to all four corners, allows her to be easily sailed and maneuvered under power.
This Island Spirit is the complete package, taking the comforts of home to the seven seas with "green, earth-friendly" upgrades including solar power, wind power, lithium batteries, a water maker, washing machine, 12v air-conditioning, and a chef-friendly kitchen. This is the popular 3/2 Owner's version floorplan.
The sugar scoops are wide enough for 2 swimmers side-by-side, with a hot/cold freshwater shower on the port side. The open rear cockpit boosts a 7ft clearance to the hard bimini top, so no more ducking and crouching to enter the the cockpit.
Moving from the cockpit thru the bi-fold glass doors and across the low threshold, you enter the salon which seats 6-8. The U-shaped galley, located on the port side of the salon offers two sinks facing aft, a 3-burner stove and oven to port with plenty of ventilation. A large counter-top with elevated serving shelf sit atop the 4.2cu ft refigerator and deep pantry. A separate 3.8 cu ft, 3-drawer freezer offers even more cold storage. Across from the galley on the starboard side facing aft is the nav-station, with counter space, storage bin and yet another dedicated refrigerator that has been installed underneath.
The starboard hull has a queen bed in the aft cabin, storage shelves mid-ship, and a head forward with quiet flush head and a separate full-size shower. The port hull has a queen bed in the aft cabin with a built-in dresser, and the forward cabin has an extended twin V-berth with spacious storage area.
